Building a personal brand is a top priority for me in 2024. Last year I gained some momentum, but it was nothing to brag about. This year my goal is to be more intentional with my efforts and develop a plan for success.
It’s time for me to practice what I preach. I’m always telling clients and people I meet to have a game plan. Without a game plan, your marketing efforts won’t have the same impact.
Vulnerability
Something interesting I learned last year that I will be incorporating is vulnerability. I understand that there is strength in weakness.
I was listening to a branding expert talk about this, and he discussed how we should lean into our weaknesses and allow that to help us develop our brand. He recommended coming up with two to three words that would define what our focus would be, based on our most vulnerable aspect. It sounded kind of weird in the beginning but the more he expounded on the subject, the more I understood what he was saying.
As I thought about my vulnerabilities, the word that kept coming to me was indecisiveness. But what could I add to ‘indecisiveness’ to represent what I want to convey to my audience? How will I capture people’s attention when admitting that I can be indecisive at times? Then it came to me… ‘Tamed Indecision’.
Tamed Indecision
So, what does Tamed Indecision mean? Well, think about it like this. Many people who are indecisive struggle to make decisions. They second-guess themselves and often end up not doing anything. They also worry about what others may say about them if something isn’t done perfectly.
In my case, I decided this was something I had to overcome or tame if I wanted to reach my potential.
Therefore, the articles I write, videos I make, webinars I teach, and so on, will focus on taming habits that help people; like me, overcome indecision.
